‘Six Shooter’ by Johnathan Welsh
The Imaginary Million, commissioned by the Office of Cultural Affairs for Elevate, was a huge success. The event was a collaboration between MOCA GA, WonderRoot, and Kennesaw State University.
On October 24, one hundred local artists participated in an auction at the historic 200 Peachtree building, bidding on each other’s work to take home. Each participant received $10,000 in false currency to buy the work of their fellow artists. The purpose of the “art for artist auction” was to encourage artists to become collectors and to foster growth in the arts economy. Hundreds of art enthusiasts attended the free and open to the public gala event.
Hopefully this year’s Imaginary Million was the first of many more to come!
